Veterinary Care on the Frontline
Worldwide Vets has been supporting animals affected by the war in Ukraine since 2022. Working alongside Ukrainian veterinary professionals, volunteers and partner organisations, we provide free veterinary care, sterilisation, vaccinations, emergency treatment and support to animals and communities affected by the conflict.

From our sterilisation hub and mobile veterinary work to frontline outreach and emergency rescue, our teams continue to provide care wherever it is needed most.
Our Work in Ukraine
Free Veterinary Care
We provide free treatment, surgery and emergency care to pets, stray animals and animals affected by the conflict.
Sterilisation & Preventative Care
Our teams carry out high-volume sterilisation alongside rabies vaccinations, parasite treatment and other essential preventative care.
Mobile & Frontline Outreach
We take veterinary care directly to communities with limited access to services, including areas affected by the ongoing conflict.

Supporting Ukrainian Veterinary Professionals
We work alongside and support Ukrainian vets and veterinary nurses through training, education, resources and professional opportunities.
Emergency Animal Rescue
When animals are displaced, injured or trapped by the conflict, we work with local and international partners to provide emergency care and support rescue and evacuation efforts.
2026: our latest impact
Still Working. Still Needed.
In 2026, our two Ukrainian teams have continued providing free veterinary care in communities across the country.

Dr Olha and her team continue working close to the frontline, including in the Kherson region, while Dr Tanya and volunteers operate from our Sterilisation Hub in Khrystynivka. Our teams have also expanded outreach to new communities, supported local shelters and volunteers, and continued developing community education around the importance of sterilisation.

Despite ongoing challenges, including unreliable electricity and the realities of working in a country at war, our teams continue to provide care wherever it is needed.

Since the beginning of the war, our teams have provided free veterinary care to animals across Ukraine, from safer communities in the west to areas close to the frontline.

2025 — Reaching Further
13,135 veterinary procedures completed, including over 4,000 sterilisations and 4,000 rabies vaccinations, while our teams continued providing care across Ukraine, including regular work close to the frontline.
2024 — Growing Our Reach
Our teams provided more than 13,000 treatments, including 3,547 sterilisations, while continuing emergency and frontline veterinary work throughout the country.
2023 — Taking Veterinary Care on the Road
We launched our mobile veterinary clinic, allowing our teams to take free veterinary care directly to animals and communities across Ukraine. By the end of the year, more than 10,000 treatments had been provided.
Beyond Dogs and Cats
The war has affected every kind of animal. Alongside dogs and cats, our team has used its experience in wildlife and large-animal medicine to support the treatment, rescue and relocation of animals threatened by the conflict.
The Odessa Lion Rescue
In one of our largest animal evacuations, nine lions were safely moved out of Odessa through a complex operation involving extensive planning, specialist veterinary care and international collaboration.
