Trap, Neuter and Return (TNR) is one of the most effective and humane ways to manage stray animal populations. By preventing unwanted litters, we reduce the number of animals born onto the streets to face hunger, disease and suffering.

Worldwide Vets carries out TNR programmes across Egypt, India, Tanzania, Thailand, Ukraine and Zimbabwe, providing sterilisation alongside essential veterinary care and vaccinations.
why tnr matters
It All Started With a Dog
In many of the communities where we work, access to veterinary care is limited or unavailable. Without sterilisation, stray populations can grow rapidly, leaving more animals competing for food, shelter and resources.

TNR helps create healthier, more stable animal populations. Alongside sterilisation, animals may receive vaccinations, parasite treatment and other essential care, improving welfare for both animals and the communities they live alongside.

how it works
1. Identify & Prepare
Local teams identify areas where animals need support and prepare the equipment, medicines and facilities needed for the programme.
2. Safely Capture
Animals are humanely trapped or safely restrained and transported to the clinic or mobile veterinary unit.
3. Treat & Sterilise
Each animal receives a health check before undergoing spay or neuter surgery. Where possible, they may also receive vaccinations and parasite treatment.

4. Recover
Animals are carefully monitored as they recover from surgery and are only cleared for release once they are stable and comfortable.
5. Return
Once recovered, animals are returned to their familiar territory, helping maintain a stable population and preventing further uncontrolled breeding.
